This sunset session was held on the St. Johns river at Memorial Park, it was my first time shooting there and on this day, the park and riverbank were filled with people. Maybe because the weather was too good to stay indoors, or perhaps folks were trying to get outside due to being stuck indoors during hurricane Ian that just passed by. Whatever the reason, we claimed a small spot on the river bank between the park-goers and made the best of it. We shot using the river as a backdrop for a while and then I noticed a white concrete wall on the building across the street so we decided to use that as a clean backdrop. It turned out to be the perfect alternate background, allowing the flowers and Brenda's character to shine through.
The day was extra special because it was Brenda's birthday and what better way to celebrate than a sunset shoot. I had only just met Brenda but we immediately fed off each other's energy and began coming up with creative ideas. She's the kindest soul ever and I look forward to working with her again.
