Connecting with the Hornick family was an exciting experience as they graciously welcomed me into their home to capture a day in their lives. There's a huge level of comfort and trust that goes into allowing someone into your home, especially to document your life on a personal level, which is precisely what documentary family photography entails.
During our time together, we caught family playtime, snack sessions, reading adventures, games, and even hung out with their chickens, feeding them grapes. In these moments, photographers don't just watch; we tell stories, capturing the natural flow of a family's day. It's a team effort, where everyone, including the family and the photographer, collaborates to capture those real emotions and fleeting moments that make their story uniquely theirs.
